Artist statement

Good morning, Sunshine was my mother's "wake up greeting" when I was a little girl. To bring childhood memories together with bright rays of sunshine on these crosswalks does more than just provide beauty to the City of Lewisville. It reminds me that I should go outside and walk off all the things floating around in my brain. It reminds me that I should go outside and absorb that Vitamin D & fresh air. It reminds me that I'm part of a community. By using a limited color palette, I was able to use mainly primary colors and organic shapes that would together provide contrast and interest for those passing by.

The Good Morning Sunshine crosswalk is part of the Public Art Work Plan for 2021.
